Annie Perkins
BSc (Dairy Science), MSc (Ecological Economics)
Managing Director, Consultant

Annie has worked in sustainable agriculture and natural resource management her entire career, and in New Zealand since 1995. She has been an extension researcher, sustainable agriculture education coordinator, soil conservator, and catchment planner. Annie has extensive experience as a professional facilitator and project manager. She completed a post-graduate diploma in Sustainable Practice and was accepted for accreditation as an Associate of The Natural Step NZ. She has sat on the Hamilton City Council Sustainability Panel, is a founding member of Sustainable Waikato, and a founding trustee of the Te Whangai Trust and the Seeley Gully restoration trust. She is a member of industry groups including APEN, NZIPIM, NZARM and NZFSS.

Sameen Masood
MSc (Sociology), MA (Islamic Banking), PhD (Sociology), NZCATT
Social Researcher

As a Rural Sociologist, Sameen brings a decade of research, facilitation and advisory experience from the education and international development sectors. Her research covers agricultural development including extension, farming-related disaster management, and financing as well as research into the social structures and cultures unique to rural settings, ethnic groups and migrant communities. She is currently a member of the EFCo Board of Advisors and contributes to strategic planning and growth of Islamic Finance in New Zealand. Her keen interest in agriculture, research training and experience broadens the scope of the services provided by Groundwork Associates.

Kevin Steel

Kevin has an extensive background in public policy and the process of government. His experience brings a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the primary industry sectors production systems and institutional arrangements, water and soil conservation and integrated catchment management and the interaction between the intensification of primary production and water quality and the wider environment.

Jackie Fitchman
BBus (Marketing), GradDipEd
Communications Consultant

Jackie has over 15 years’ experience in marketing communications, complemented by a background in education. She has worked with the New Zealand government at all levels and across a broad range of areas, including natural resource management, science, strategy, policy, sustainable agriculture, sustainable business, biodiversity, biosecurity and waste. She led communications for Healthy Rivers/Wai Ora, a major science-based project to collaboratively develop solutions for the Waikato River’s water quality. She enjoys making complex, technical information appealing to lay people, and involving the public in decision making.

Geraldine Webby
Business Operations Coordinator & Projects Administrator
Geraldine supports both Groundwork Associates and The Greenspace. With extensive experience in personal assistant and office administration roles in a range of sectors, as well as a stint in hospitality, her skills complement the diverse nature of our work. She looks forward to ensuring your experience with us is a great one.
Mike Fellows

Technical Consultant

A keen cyber advocate, Mike has a background in the computer and network security industry. His diverse career has included directing a company and working as a Network Engineer in Papua New Guinea. He has an impressive range of business and technical skills, developed while working as a system tech in stage and media production.

Epitome (Piri) Wilson
Greenspace Venue Assistant

Before joining the Groundwork team in 2019, Epitome completed a Diploma in Hotel and Hospitality Management (level 5) from New Zealand School of Tourism, with an aspiration and commitment to pursue a career in hospitality and customer services. Her professional skills and personal interests align with our core value of effective involvement of people, and she provides a high standard of service to Greenspace clients and the Groundwork team. 


Mikayla Spanbroek
Greenspace Venue Assistant

Mikayla joined the Groundwork team in 2019, and enjoys learning how our sustainable business operates behind the scenes, and developing her skills in hospitality, administration, and accounts. She is currently completing  a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Management majoring in accounting at the University of Waikato.

Jessica Logie
Gardener and Greenspace Venue Assistant

After starting with Groundwork as a venue assistant, Jess’s green fingers led her to also becoming our head gardener. She is currently studying horticulture at Wintec, and is completing an internship at Hamilton Gardens in the summer of 2020-21 .
